Sampling Techniques

The sampling techniques adopted will ensure that minimum levels of airborne asbestos fibres are generated. All sampling activities will be preceded by the preparation of the risk assessment which will be undertaken in accordance with the procedures as defined within MDHS 100.

In all instances the survey and sampling work will be conducted as to minimise disruption to the client’s daily operation and premises whilst protecting the health and safety of those who may be at risk from such activities.

Upon completion of sampling, the site sample point will be repaired/sealed and the area left as clean and safe as far as reasonably practicable.

All surveyors will be aware of their responsibilities as to protect their own health and safety and that of others in compliance with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

All employees of RDS hold a minimum qualification of a P Cert in asbestos or BIOH equivalent. All on site operational staff shall do all that is “reasonably practicable” to prevent and control exposures during surveys as it applies to themselves and others.

Areas within the building “local to sampling points” should be unoccupied at the time of sample taking. Sampling will not normally proceed in occupied areas. Points of access into the sampling location/space will clearly be identified with appropriate signs stating:
